“We made it… Frank made it, Carm made it and even I made it. Every body’s all tucked in and ready for bed. I think all three of us will miss River Ridge… the staff you have there really is amazing. The personal touch that everyone there gives is truly impressive. And the residents… they are just so dear, I know I’ll miss lunch time at River Ridge.
And of course I can’t thank you enough for all you have done for my family… and for me, I know I was pretty overwhelmed. Thanks again.” — Joe Ruggiero
Fort Johnson, formerly known as Akin, is a village in Montgomery County, New York located on the north side of the Mohawk River with a population of 490. Around 1710, early Palatine Germans began trying to settle here. Most were working in an English camp along the Hudson to pay back their passage by ship from London. In 1716, the Mohawk sold a portion of the land to Philip Groat (it is now in the eastern part of the Town of Amsterdam).
Fort Johnson Resources:
Old Fort Johnson House – Old Fort Johnson is the original 1749 limestone house on the north bank of the Mohawk River, New York Colony, built by Sir William Johnson.
Bathroom Safety Tips – Accidents in the home account for approximately a third of all accidents to seniors, and more accidents occur in the bathroom than anywhere else in the home.
Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect – While many elder care and nursing home facilities provide excellent care and nurturing, unfortunately many do not. And this leads to unexplained death, serious injury and preventable illness.
